Sea Legs formed in 2004, when John Dupree and Michael Faircloth began playing and recording together in Brooklyn, NY, working up demos and playing various New York City venues as Jack Neatus and Sea Legs.
Sea Legs has now finally released its debut 12 song LP titled Ghost of Alabama. All instruments are played by John and Michael with the exception of Austin musicians, Phil Davidson on violin, cellist Dylan Rieck, and Burton Lee on pedal steel. The album features singer Lacy Woods, a friend of Sea Legs from Virginia, who lends her lovely vocals on a number of songs.
The duo has recently transformed into a full band with JoBeth Cox on bass and vocals (formerly in Southern Drama), and Steve Bidwell and Chris Patin (of The Calm Blue Sea) on drums and guitar respectively.
In 2003, Murdocks formed in a scorching-hot public storage unit in Austin, TX and immediately hit the ground running – playing hundreds of shows all across the country and nationally releasing one full length record (2005's Surrenderender) and two EPs. With each release the band continues to churn out catchy, hook-filled, melodic songs that draw attitude from their punk rock roots and incorporate elements of indie rock, garage rock, and power-pop. With distorted sing-scream vocals, a driving rhythm section that never lets up, and lyrics as innocent as they are morbid, Murdocks mix the fun with the dirty – the punch of a drunk with the face of a beauty.
